Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson might be set for one of his biggest movie roles ever. Deadline reported today that The Rock, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Emily Blunt are attached to star in an untitled drama that would be directed by the legendary Martin Scorsese. The three stars and Scorsese would also be producers of the film. Deadline’s report states that, while everyone involved is engaged in other projects, Hollywood “quickly sparked to [this] pitch” and “multiple bids are either on the table or are fast mobilizing.” The movie would be set in Hawaii in the 1960s-1970s and would focus on a “ruthless” Hawaiian mob boss who battles rivals for control of organized crime on the island. “To be written by Nick Bilton, the film focuses on a turbulent time on the island paradise when an aspiring mob boss battled rival crime factions to wrest control of the underworld of the Hawaiian islands,” Deadline wrote. “It was a bloody battle, the kind of terrain Scorsese covered in both ‘Goodfellas’ and ‘The Departed.’ In 1960s and 7
