'The Voice' announces Snoop Dogg as this season's 'Mega Mentor'

Snoop Dogg knows what you're thinking. Yes, it is April Fools' Day. No, The Voice isn't kidding around.

"This is not a joke....," the iconic West Coast rapper tweeted Thursday afternoon. "Excited to join the Voice as this seasons mega mentor!!"

Snoop included a video with another message to fans: "Whatever you do, please do not adjust your phone, tablet or radio. Now, I know today is April Fools' Day, but I got something to say that's no joke: on April 19, I am officially appearing on The Voice. Yeah, on NBC. As the Season 2 Mega Mentor."

The video also featured clips that will presumably air during upcoming episodes. "You thought Snoop and Martha Stewart was a weird combination," Blake Shelton says in one, before Snoop finishes his thought: "We on a whole 'nother scale right now, baby."
The Voice confirmed the news:

Last season's Mega Mentor was Usher, who had been a judge for Season 4 (2013) and Season 6 (2014). Other past mentors include Taylor Swift and James Taylor.

Season 20's judges panel boasts Shelton—the series' only remaining original judge from its debut in April 2011—Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Nick Jonas. The season premiered March 1 and kicked off its "Battles" round Monday. The "Knockouts" will begin with Snoop's first appearance April 19.

Tuesday, Ariana Grande revealed that she will replace Jonas as a judge for Season 21:

For those who can't wait nearly three weeks for a D-O-double-G fix, the 16-time Grammy nominee has an NFT drop coming Friday:

The Voice airs every Monday beginning at 8 p.m. EST on NBC with all episodes available for streaming via Peacock.
