Tina Fey's "impulse to retire" is "strong".
The former 'Saturday Night Live' star is "tired" of hearing about herself and thinks it is time for a new wave of comics to make their way to the forefront.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “The impulse to hide and retire is very strong because I do think it’s time to help new voices get in the mix.
“It’s something I’m already doing, but I want to do more. Even on the walk over here I was like, ‘I am so tired of hearing from me. Surely everyone else is tired of hearing from the same people over and over again.’ “
However, the 54-year-old star - who has Alice, 19, and Penelope, 13, with producer husband Jeff Richmond - admitted she was grateful for her upcoming Netflix series 'The Four Seasons' because it "saved" her while juggling a lot in her personal life.
She said: “This sandwich generation stuff, having your kids and an aging parent in the same house, it’s wonderful … but it also really takes a lot out of you.
"My mom passed away in the summer, my older daughter went to college in August and my husband and I went to work on 'The Four Seasons' in the fall. That kept me in the world. It saved me from just shrinking up like a little granny apple head.”
Tina and her pal Amy Poehler previously hosted the Golden Globe Awards four times and presented the Oscars once but she's got no interest in helming another awards show.
She said: "Nikki Glaser killed it at the Globes, and she should keep that job forever. Me? No. I shouldn’t say never, but it’s such a high risk for such low reward.”
While Lorne Michaels, 80, previously said Tina "could easily" take the reins if he ever steps down as 'SNL' showrunner, she insisted he is "irreplaceable".
Asked about his remarks, she said: “It was nice of him to say that, and I love him very much.
"He’s irreplaceable. His set of gifts and skills are entirely unique. His eye for talent! He’s one of the last three people in show business who actually understand everything. I’ll leave it at that.”

Bears GM speaks out after superstar goes down with injury
Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson is expected to miss most of training camp due to a leg injury, per ESPN’s Courtney Cronin. Johnson was placed on the non-football injury list when veterans reported to Chicago for camp. He suffered the injury during offseason training, according to Bears general manager Ryan Poles. Johnson is coming off his second consecutive Pro Bowl and is headed into the second year of a four-year, $76 million deal. He has dealt with a number of injuries over his career, playing no more than 15 games in a season over the first four years of his career. In 2024, he played a full season for the first time, starting all 17 games with a career-high 1,032 snaps. An extended absence into the regular season would force Chicago to find another starting cornerback among their veteran depth, but Poles said that the team is not “overly concerned” about a long-term injury. “We’ve got a lot of faith that he’s going to put in the time to rehab and be his full self when he comes back,” said Poles on Tuesday. 2023 fifth-rounder Terell Smith will likely step into a first-team role in Johnson’s absence. Chicago largely relied on a cornerback trio of Johnson, Tyrique Stevenson and Kyler Gordon last year; Smith is the only remaining defensive back on the roster who played at least 150 snaps on the boundary for the Bears in 2024, according to Pro Football Focus. Offseason signings Nick McCloud and Tre Flowers may also see a bump in reps over the coming weeks as Johnson rehabs his leg with his eyes on returning for the Bears’ Week 1 opener against the Vikings.
Green Bay Packers: Former 7th Rounder Has Only Solidified Depth Chart Status in Impressive Training Camp
Three days of Green Bay Packers training camp are in the books and cornerback Carrington Valentine has reinforced his status as the default CB3. It’s only a minute sample size, of course, and the team hasn’t even moved to padded sessions yet. Nonetheless, it’s encouraging to see the former 232nd overall pick put down some roots in a cornerback group that will need meaningful contributions from a slew of less than household names. Carrington Valentine starts strong in Green Bay Packers training camp Writing for Packers Wire, Mark Oldacres observed that Valentine has already picked off a pair of passes in the early going. Stats don’t much much in training camp, but it’s a reflection of Valentine’s keyed-in performance thus far, which included matching up well with standout rookie receiver Matthew Golden. Each player has impressed so far in camp. The Packers are counting on Valentine to backup Keisean Nixon and Nate Hobbs on the depth chart, or take the field with them in nickelback formations. While he is still developing his overall tools, he already has a place on an NFL field due to his coverage skills. Says Oldacres, “Arguably Green Bay’s most gifted cover corner, Valentine is showing signs of hitting his upside in coverage specifically, although proving he is reliable enough in defending the run will still be crucial for him to truly become a full time player.” Valentine enjoyed a decent chunk of playing time last season as a sophomore, taking advantage of Jaire Alexander’s extended injury absence to amass 546 snaps. He notched the first two interceptions of his career and earned a PFF grade of 70.4, which ranked in the 80th percentile of qualified cornerbacks. With Alexander released and Eric Stokes leaving in free agency, Valentine will have an even greater opportunity in 2025. The players behind him on the depth chart are fringe reserves, draft picks, or ex-receivers (Bo Melton). The job behind Nixon and Hobbs is his to lose. If the latter hits the injured list again – Hobbs missed 17 games across his last three seasons in Las Vegas – Valentine could step into an elevated role. Promoting him naturally at some point, injuries or not, might not be such a bad thing. For his part, Oldacres is pretty high on Valentine’s potential. “Entering year three in the NFL and soon to turn 24, Valentine is probably the best bet to lift the ceiling of Green Bay’s cornerback group as a whole.”
The Edmonton Oilers and Carter Hart Could Be a Potential Match
It has been a few days since Carter Hart was found not guilty in the Hockey Canada Trial, and his NHL future is currently up in the air. The league has not reinstated Hart or the four other players who were put on trial, and until that happens, he is not eligible for an NHL return. If the league reinstates all the players from the case, Carter Hart would probably receive some interest from NHL clubs. The Edmonton Oilers are a team that makes sense for Hart if he gets reinstated by the league. Goaltending Is Once Again a Hot Topic For the Oilers The yearly discussion about Edmonton’s goaltending is upon us once again. Stuart Skinner is one of the most inconsistent goalies in the league, if not the most inconsistent. If the Oilers could use some depth at any position on their team, goaltending would be at the top of the list. The Oilers could look at Hart as a guy who could be brought in on a cheap deal, as he has a lot to prove to himself and to the team that signs him. The reality for Edmonton is that Skinner and Calvin Pickard’s inconsistencies in the net have been a big reason why they’ve lost consecutive Stanley Cup Finals. The problem is, fixing the goaltending isn’t as easy as it sounds either. Neither Skinner nor Pickard project to be a number one goaltender, but they could thrive in a 1A-1B situation. Carter Hart wouldn’t be a perfect fix, but the Oilers should consider it because, at times, their goaltending looks lost out there. Signing Hart To a Deal Would Be a Bet On Upside Signing Carter Hart would be a bet on upside for the Oilers, not certainty. It is fair to point out that there’s no such thing as certainty when it comes to goaltenders, but if the Oilers were going into the offseason looking at options, Carter Hart was most likely not on the list. Before all of this happened, Hart was an above-average goalie for the Flyers, posting a save percentage of over .900 for three seasons in a row. Carter Hart is probably the best option on the market for Edmonton if he gets reinstated because he’ll get a cheap contract and will have something to prove. In an ideal world, the Oilers probably wanted to go after John Gibson, but he ended up with the Detroit Red Wings.
Pirates could shake up MLB trade deadline by holding onto top target
Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Mitch Keller is regarded as one of the top players on the pitching market. That may no longer be the case. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Pirates are uncertain about whether they will trade Keller by the deadline on July 31. At 42-62, Pittsburgh is out of contention for a playoff berth this season. However, they intend to keep Keller for a potential run in 2026. The Pirates could have one of the best rotations in baseball next year if they remain healthy. Paul Skenes has continued to cement his place as one of the best pitchers in the sport and is their unquestioned ace. Keller would be a solid option behind Skenes as the second starter, while top pitching prospect Bubba Chandler is expected to debut before the end of the 2025 campaign. Injured pitcher Jared Jones showed promise during his rookie season in 2024 and is expected to return by mid-2026. Complicating matters for Pittsburgh is that Keller's value may never be higher than it is currently. He is in the midst of a career season, having posted a 3.53 ERA and a 1.160 WHIP in 125 innings entering Saturday, with 97 strikeouts and 30 walks. Moreover, Keller is signed to a five-year extension, which keeps him under team control through 2028. The Pirates would have several suitors for Keller. The New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs and New York Mets are specifically known to be checking in on Keller, although other teams may have interest. The Cubs are reportedly viewing Keller as a backup option. This may also be a factor as the Pirates consider their decision regarding his future in Pittsburgh. The Pirates' choice could further shake up the trade market. The Kansas City Royals are likewise undecided as to whether or not to shop pitcher Seth Lugo or to work on an extension. If neither pitcher is available, the asking price for arms could skyrocket in a seller's market.
