Deadpool and Wolverine has everyone speculating about Anchor Beings - but who is the Anchor Being of the entire MCU? Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed all long before the film released.
If you didn’t know, an Anchor Being is essentially the most important character in the universe. When they die, that universe ceases to exist. In Deadpool and Wolverine, that Anchor Being is Wolverine. When he dies at the end of Logan, he triggers the start of his universe’s collapse - unless Deadpool can prevent it.
But Logan exists in the now-defunct Fox universe, which is an entirely separate universe to the MCU, which contains the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, and Hulk. According to Feige, the Anchor Being is Doctor Strange.
During a speech on the Hollywood Walk of Fame around the release of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Feige addressed Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch, saying, “You’ve always seen the tremendous potential in this character, and because of that, you become the anchor of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the only actor capable of guiding us through the madness of the multiverse.”

Did Feige actually mean Doctor Strange is the literal Anchor Being, though? After all, this was years before the events of Deadpool and Wolverine. The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman offered a slightly more recent take, revealing the Anchor Being to be Scarlet Witch.
“I have to say Scarlet Witch,” Shakman said at SDCC 2024. “My girl Wanda Maximoff.” Although Shakman might be slightly biased - he did direct several episodes of Disney+ series WandaVision.
