American Idol season 23 is down to three contestants and one of them is LSU freshman John Foster.

John was raised in the small town of Addis just outside of Baton Rouge. His grandfather owns Benoit’s Country Meat Block and the whole family works there.

A celebration parade for Foster was held on Wednesday. John shared some highlights on Instagram.

John has consistently celebrated Louisiana whenever he has had an opportunity on the show. One of his best moments included his take on Princess Tiana’s “Almost There” from Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog.”

Foster has shown much appreciation to fans along the way. He recently penned this message of thanks on his social media channels. “I'M BACK HOME IN LOUISIANA! Wow. Wow. Wow. I am so incredibly blessed. A million ‘Thank you's’ will never be enough. I can't wait for y'all to see the big day on your screens this Sunday! To every person that's voted, and especially every person who showed up today at the parade and concert: YOU ARE SO APPRECIATED. Please know that I mean that from the bottom of my *very* emotional heart. We now have some WORK to do! Call your friends, tell them to call their friends and let's WIN this show on Sunday! I can only do it with YOU behind me. One more time, and listen to me when I say this (to quote Lionel Richie), I. LOVE. YOU.”

Foster was not the only American Idol contestant in season 23 representing the Tigers. Baylee Littrell, son of Backstreet Boy Brian Litrell, is also an online student at LSU. Littrell was eliminated on April 21st after the top 14 singers were revealed.
