As revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, the next surprising move for the hit series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be an episode done entirely in the style of Jim Henson's Muppets. Yes, you didn't misread that. This isn't an AI-generated thing, nor is it fan-created. As confirmed by a new teaser at Comic-Con, Strange New Worlds Season 4 will feature an all-puppet episode of the popular Star Trek spinoff.
In an official press release, Paramount revealed that "Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will feature a puppet-themed episode, featuring U.S.S.Enterprise crew members as puppets created by the iconic Jim Henson’s Creature Shop."
The trailer showed a puppet version of Captain Pike, as voiced by Anson Mount, wondering if the rest of the crew had "gone to Season 4" without him.
The puppet episode will be directed by Jordan Canning, who previously worked on Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock.
This puppet-themed Star Trek installment is still a long way off, though. Strange New Worlds Season 3 is currently airing, and this puppet Trek will happen in Season 4, set to debut sometime in 2026.
Before that, though, the next big Star Trek series will be Starfleet Academy, a new live-action series starring Holly Hunter and featuring none other than Paul Giamatti as the villain.
All existing Star Trek shows, with the exception of the animated series Star Trek: Prodigy, all stream on Paramount+. (Prodigy streams on Netflix.)
This means that if you wanted to catch Strange New Worlds, both now and in 2026, or Starfleet Academy, you'll need Paramount+.
