Super Bowl LIX is almost here, and the stakes are even higher than usual this year. Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have a chance to make history as the first team ever to win three straight Super Bowls. With Andy Reid still at the helm and Travis Kelce in playoff mode, this team is fully capable of getting it done.

But standing in their way are the Philadelphia Eagles. Jalen Hurts and his crew are still sore from their Super Bowl loss against Kansas City two years ago, and they’re out to settle the score. And this time, they have a guy named Saquon Barkley to shift the odds.

Sounds like a pretty enticing matchup to us. It all kicks off in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025. Read on for our NFL picks for the outcome — and find out where and how to watch the biggest NFL game of the year.

Key Takeaways:

  • Super Bowl LIX teams: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs
  • Super Bowl LIX date: Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025
  • Super Bowl LIX kickoff time: 6:30 p.m. ET
  • Super Bowl LIX location: Caesars Superdome, New Orleans

Super Bowl 2025 schedule

The Super Bowl may kick off in the evening, but there’s plenty of coverage to enjoy all day long. Fox will start airing game-related programming at 11:00 a.m. ET, and the pre-game show— hosted by Curt Menefee and Terry Bradshaw — is slated to start at 1:00 p.m. The Fox pre-game crew will tee up the 6:30 p.m. kickoff with five-and-a-half hours of behind-the-scenes analysis, NFL picks for this week and more.

Come halftime, we’ll be treated to a much-anticipated performance from Kendrick Lamar and SZA. Lamar is fresh off dominating the airwaves with “Not Like Us,” while SZA broke out with three Grammys in 2024. The two performed together on several tracks on Lamar’s surprise 2024 record, GNX and this will serve as a huge promo for their big upcoming tour.

Super Bowl LIX prediction

Both of these teams have been here before, but only one has won it all in recent years: Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Their win over the Eagles in 2023 was the first in this run for three straight, and the second of the Reid-Mahomes era. Philadelphia hasn’t taken home the Vince Lombardi trophy since 2017, so its fans are hungry to see the Birds break through.

Both teams have made some magic this season. The Chiefs had one extra win over the Eagles in the regular season, and both squads were dominant despite some notable flaws. The big takeaway? This is bound to be a tight contest.

Our prediction: On paper, Andy Reid and Nick Sirianni lead evenly matched squads. As far as the oddsmakers NFL predictions go this week, they’re only expecting a 1.5-point spread. The Chiefs have the edge at quarterback, while the Eagles have an MVP-level running back in Saquon Barkley. Kansas City has a chance to make history; Philly has a chance to rewrite theirs.

But this matchup will come down to the intangibles that don’t necessarily show up on regular season stat sheets. And those intangibles lean heavily in Kansas City’s favor. Reid, Mahomes and Kelce have proven time and again that they play at another level in the postseason. Meanwhile, the Eagles’ defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio, hasn’t been able to solve the KC QB, despite eight chances to do so.

What’s our NFL pick this week? Kansas City will go down in history as the first team to three-peat.
