Heated Rivalry on Prime has become quitethe sleeper hit. After a phenomenal run at Milan, Amber Glenn had an interesting answer to a question inspired by the show on the GLAAD Award red carpet.
The Texas icon helped Team US win gold in the group event at the Olympics. Her sportsmanship also earned Glenn a Fair Play Award nomination.
On March 6, during an interview on the red carpet, reporters asked Amber Glenn the ‘Heated Rivalry’ question.
“I’m considered older in figure skating women, so it’s like my competitors are usually quite a bit younger than me, so they’re my children,” said Glenn when asked about who she thinks she could have a heated rivalry with in her sport.

“So, honestly, I feel like it would have been with Gracie Gold,” she added.
Glenn, 26, was the oldest American female singles skater at the Winter Olympics since 1928. She has been a supportive guardian-like friend to her Blade Angeles teammates, Alysa Liu (20) and Isabeau Levito (19). Hence, having Gold as a rival “would have been great.”
Glenn made it clear that she’s catching up with the series and would’ve liked to have such a scenario with the six-time Grand Prix medallist, had she not retired. However, her connection with Gold goes beyond this.
Gold and Glenn had several meaningful encounters about mentorship, mental health advocacy, and the evolution of women’s figure skating. In 2025, Glenn sat down for an exclusive conversation ahead of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Boston.
“It took a long time to get to a place that I could be open about [my mental health struggles],” Glenn said to Gold. “I healed and got help privately and made sure I was in a place where I could share these stories… I think one big thing is that people are more willing to help than you think.”
A remark that closely resonates with Gold, who has been herself very vocal about her own struggles. A 2020 HBO documentary, ‘The Weight of Gold,’ highlighted her journey. And her 2024 memoir about figure skating simply amplified that. In 2022, her advocacy was recognised by a Bell of Hope Award.
Given Gold’s on and off-ice achievements, it doesn’t come as a shocker that Glenn could pick a rivalry with her. Do you think it would’ve worked? Let us know.
