Red Bull and Max Verstappen are facing extreme struggles in performance in the 2025 season. Verstappen is unable to win races anymore, and the situation doesn’t seem to improve. Although the team is giving it their all to come out of the slump, the performances have yet to improve. Moreover, the new regulations of the coming season might be just as difficult for Milton Keynes as they are set to develop their own power units. As such, ex-F1 driver Martin Brundle reckoned that the team is going through problems that cannot be predicted.
Max Verstappen has remained vocal about the issues he has been facing with Red Bull so far. The Dutchman has already written off his title chances in the 2025 season. Still, Verstappen has reassured that he will continue his career with Milton Keynes and does not intend to leave anytime soon.
Speaking on the upcoming regulations of the 2026 season, Martin Brundle reckoned that Max Verstappen would look at the entire picture in the coming season. Despite Verstappen’s commitment to Red Bull, he could consider his options if rivals come up with a much better challenger.
I think what Max will do now is take a view, see what happens.
Martin Brundle told Sky Sports F1
Martin Brundle highlighted that uncertainty looms over Red Bull’s chances to succeed in the 2026 season onwards. Brundle noted that the crystal ball had never been more ‘opaque’ than it currently is for the Max Verstappen and Co. The Briton raised doubts over the teams that would come up with a dominant car in the coming season and get the setup just right.
The crystal ball has never been more opaque for a Formula One driver because of the changes with the chassis and the power unit for 2026. Who’s going to get it right?

After Max Verstappen cleared the air and declared that he will continue racing at Red Bull, doubts are cast upon his continuity in the 2027 season onwards. Verstappen could look at the bigger picture and ditch the Austrian outfit for another rival in the next season. Martin Brundle revealed the realistic options that will be available for the reigning world champion, as any team would be readily available to acquire the 27-year-old in their squad.
Martin Brundle revealed that there will be one Ferrari seat up for grabs in the 2027 season, as Lewis Hamilton‘s contract runs out by then, and he might not continue. Moreover, a vacancy in Mercedes might be created, with Red Bull and Aston Martin also having one vacancy. Max Verstappen can realistically join any of the teams that seem to have an upper hand in the new regulations.
He knows that there will be a Ferrari seat, at least, a Mercedes seat, a Red Bull seat, and probably an Aston Martin seat available to him for ’27. You can’t know which car will be best until they get out on the track.
Martin Brundle noted
Red Bull’s performance in the 2025 season has been extremely dismal, and Max Verstappen hasn’t hesitated to accept it. Still, the latter half of the season remains, and the team will give it their all in the final ten races. For now, Verstappen’s championship ambitions this year seem to be very difficult as McLaren rides off in the distance in both championships.
