After a breathtaking race in Jeddah, Oliver Rowland claims his redemption, securing a decisive victory and strengthening his championship lead. Special mention goes to Taylor Barnard, the youngest poleman in Formula E history.
The second race of the Jeddah E-Prix saw Oliver Rowland seize his much-needed redemption after a heartbreaking near-victory yesterday.
In complete contrast to the first chaotic race in Jeddah, this event unfolded with more traditional Formula E tactics. A strong sense of control and clever strategic decisions were delivered.
Rowland, who had to relinquish the victory in the earlier race due to mismanagement of his strategy and a pit stop error, came back with a point to prove.
While many drivers battled for the lead during the early laps, Rowland’s victory was built on a perfectly timed attack. Unlike other competitors, the Nissan Formula E driver activated his Attack Mode at a later stage.
It allowed him to take full advantage of the additional power when others had already used theirs up.
This strategic move enabled him to gain the upper hand over his rivals, ultimately creating a gap that allowed him to extend his lead and finish with a commanding five-second advantage over Taylor Barnard.
Throughout the race, Rowland’s consistency was key. He remained composed, managing tyre wear and energy levels while keeping up with the intense pace of the race.
With this victory, the Brit not only salvaged his weekend but also strengthened his grip on the top step of the Formula E standings.
The win marks a significant milestone in his season, showcasing his ability to bounce back from setbacks and deliver an impressive performance that no one can overlook. This victory also cements his place as one of the top contenders for the championship.

Although Rowland took the win, Taylor Barnard deserves equal praise for his performance throughout the race.
Despite falling short of securing the victory, the NEOM McLaren driver proved he is a force to be reckoned with in the 2025 Formula E season.
From the start, Barnard’s driving was a mix of aggression and control as he defended his position at the front and fought off faster rivals.

One of the standout moments for Barnard was his exceptional defensive driving. He was holding off attacks from Jake Hughes and Jean-Éric Vergne.
Not only did the Brit show that he could fend off his competitors, but he also delivered one of the most exciting moves of the race.
His well-timed overtakes and ability to manage the pressure from behind allowed him to maintain a spot near the front of the pack.
Barnard’s drive was a clear indicator that he is ready to challenge for the championship title. In just his sixth race in the series, he already finds himself in second place in the standings. It is a remarkable achievement considering the level of competition.
The young driver’s performance at Jeddah sent a clear message to his competitors: Barnard is here to stay. He demonstrated not only his speed but also his strategic thinking, which is essential in Formula E’s ever-changing conditions.
With more experience, Barnard could very well become one of the biggest names in the sport, and his recent performances have put him firmly in the spotlight.
The 2024/25 season is shaping up to be incredibly competitive, and the McLaren junior is certainly one of the drivers to watch closely.
It was a weekend to forget for Jaguar Racing.
Mitch Evans, who had been hoping for a strong showing, was unable to complete a race, adding more frustration for the team.
Evans’ misfortune was a blow to the team’s morale, especially after a difficult race in the previous round. Only Nick Cassidy salvaged Jaguar’s weekend with a solid fifth-place finish in Round 4.
On the other hand, Envision Racing, featuring drivers Sébastien Buemi and Robin Frijns, also faced a challenging weekend. Both drivers failed to secure points in this second round in Jeddah.
While other teams found more stability, with Mahindra delivering a solid performance, Jaguar continued to struggle. Their difficulties underscored the challenge of maintaining consistency in the highly competitive world of Formula E.
Another significant incident that caused waves in the race was the early collision between António Félix da Costa and Maximilian Günther.
The two drivers, caught in a tense battle for position at the start of the race, collided and sent Da Costa spinning. Both drivers were forced to retire early, ending their races prematurely.
This unfortunate incident led to a penalty for Günther, as the contact was deemed avoidable. Da Costa’s race was over in a matter of laps, and his hopes for a strong result were dashed early on.
