Lewis Hamilton Breaks Unwanted Record in F1

Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari was meant to be a fairytale, a historic union between F1’s most decorated driver and its most iconic team. But 19 races in, the story has taken a turn few could have predicted.

The seven time world champion has now gone the longest stretch of any Ferrari driver in history without scoring a podium finish.

The statistics are startling. Since his Ferrari debut, Hamilton has raced 19 times without standing on the podium, surpassing a record no driver at Maranello would ever want to hold.

For a competitor of his calibre, it marks a sobering reality check in a season where flashes of pace have often been undone by inconsistency, strategy missteps, and plain bad luck.

A Record That Tells a Bigger Story

While the numbers might look bleak, Hamilton’s performances haven’t been without merit. The Briton has consistently extracted everything from a car that remains off the pace compared to Red Bull and McLaren, occasionally even outperforming expectations on Sundays.

But the margins in modern F1 are razor-thin, and Ferrari’s inability to close the performance gap has left Hamilton fighting for minor points rather than podiums.

It’s a situation reminiscent of his early years at Mercedes before their dominance began, a period defined by frustration, perseverance, and quiet rebuilding. Still, this unwanted record highlights just how much the Suderia’s standards have slipped.

Ferrari Under Pressure to Deliver

Inside Maranello, the pressure is mounting. Ferrari’s top brass, including team principal Fred Vasseur, have maintained that progress is coming, but the results tell a different story.

The Tifosi expected the combination of Hamilton’s precision and Ferrari’s pedigree to yield instant success. Instead, they’ve been met with a harsh reality: F1’s most famous team still can’t find the consistency needed to challenge for wins.

Meanwhile, Hamilton remained outwardly composed, focusing on long-term development rather than short-term frustration. Yet even he would admit this record, the longest podium drought of any Ferrari driver in F1 History, isn’t one he ever imagined holding.
