Lewis Hamilton headed to the British GP with high expectations. The seven-time world champion hoped to give his home fans something to cheer about as he made his debut at Silverstone as a Ferrari driver. Unfortunately, the 40-year-old’s disappointing string of results continued yet again. With Hamilton salvaging a fourth place finish amid difficulties on-track. Post-race, the Briton opened up about how hard it had become to manage the car.
Hamilton started the race in fifth place. The British driver could’ve made some progress as rivals upfront had a difficult time initially. However, the Ferrari pitwall made a couple of bad decisions, that forced the Briton down the order during the round of pitstops. The botched strategic calls made an already tough race even more challenging for Lewis Hamilton as he tried to get the most out of the car in wet conditions.
The Ferrari driver was asked about the ‘snappy’ feeling he complained about during the race. The SF-25 became hard to drive for the Briton due to the treacherous weather conditions. Lewis Hamilton confessed that it was really the worst feeling a driver can have on-track. The seven-time world champion claimed that the rear end was so unpredictable that he could not predict how the car would react. This only reduced his confidence during the race, making him doubt his moves. As such, Hamilton would’ve lost crucial time as he struggled to keep the car in one piece.
Oh, it’s the worst feeling. It’s not a great feeling, I tell you. It’s when you just can’t sit back and just be confident that you can lean on the rear. And when it’s constantly snapping, you just have no confidence. So the ultimate goal is to try and build up confidence in the car and then get faster and faster.
Lewis Hamilton said post-race
The seven-time world champion has constantly raised alarm bells within Maranello. Lewis Hamilton is not happy with how things stand currently. Though, the Scuderia is still unable to make any concrete progress in this regard either.
Natalie Pinkham: It really was chaotic out there. You did call the car snappy during the race. So just help us understand what that actually feels like for you. How much of a challenge that is.

Lewis Hamilton: Oh, it's the worst feeling. It's not a great feeling, I tell you.
The F1 star is undoubtedly one of the best drivers in the sport’s history. Lewis Hamilton is a driver who will perform at his best when he’s at peace with the machinery. This has been the biggest hurdle in Hamilton’s Ferrari campaign, with the Briton initially struggling to gain confidence with the SF25.
The British driver insisted that gaining confidence in the car was like building a wall. Every time the car became unpredictable, this wall was knocked down. Lewis Hamilton had grown tired of trying to rebuild it again and again while the situation continued to falter within Maranello. He admitted that until he can fully put faith in the car, the team has no chance of putting a real challenge against the front runners.
It’s when you just can’t sit back and just be confident that you can lean on the rear. And when it’s constantly snapping, you just have no confidence. So the ultimate goal is to try and build up confidence in the car and then get faster and faster.

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton is not mincing his words over the situation at Maranello. The 40-year-old has been brutally honest over his struggles since the start of the season. Hamilton understands that without a predictable car, he cannot push himself to the limit. The Scuderia still has 12 races left to fix some underlying issues of the SF25. If the Italian team is unable to solve these problems now, they might reappear next season when the new regulations kick in.
