Lewis Hamilton‘s woes at Ferrari continue despite giving it his all to fix the issues as soon as possible. Hamilton has endured a difficult year in his debut with the Italian constructor. However, the 40-year-old has refused to give up, no matter the adversities, and keeps trying hard. Despite persistent efforts, the Briton could only achieve a P7 start following the Dutch GP Qualifying. Still, the seven-time champion insists that the upgrades he advised have helped improve some bits of performance in the car.
Lewis Hamilton has remained vocal about the unexpected issues he has faced in his debut year with Ferrari. The Briton even sent documents to the team consistently in hopes of improving performance as soon as possible. Despite continued efforts from both sides, the pace just isn’t there. This was further proved, as Charles Leclerc and Hamilton both achieved a P6 and P7 start, respectively.
Regardless of a mediocre outing on Saturday, Lewis Hamilton revealed that he made some adjustments to his setup and challenger. The Briton believed that these minor tweaks directly helped him improve his pace on track. Hamilton insisted that he was in a better place in terms of performance following the changes made to his setup.
Hamilton is also recharged and refreshed after the summer break, as his determination to improve performances will only grow from this point onwards. Hence, the Briton revealed that he has been a lot calmer on track after the emotional summer break. Moreover, the performance of the car was calm as well throughout the Dutch GP weekend.
From my side, I’ve made some adjustments to my approach. Definitely, as I said, been in a better place, particularly because we’ve had a break. Definitely been a lot calmer, I’d say, through this weekend.

Even though Lewis Hamilton feels Ferrari’s pace has improved somewhat from before, they are nowhere near fighting for race wins at the front of the pack. Maranello still needs to cover the massive grounds of improvements against their rivals, especially McLaren. Hence, Hamilton accepts that the team isn’t where they want to be ideally, despite glimpses of improvement.
Lewis Hamilton pointed out that the team clearly wasn’t where they wanted to be, as the upgrade package did not make the car any easier to drive. Hamilton recalled Charles Leclerc’s pole position in the previous race ahead of the summer break and how he now got six-tenths away from the lead. Still, the seven-time champion highlighted that he was having more fun this weekend than he had at any other time his year.
Clearly we’re not where we want to be, the package has been quite difficult this weekend. Charles has gone from P1 in qualifying in the last race to then us being 6 tenths off here so we’re clearly missing something. But, I’ve enjoyed the weekend more, so far.
Lewis Hamilton noted
The 2025 season only has nine races left after the Dutch GP. Lewis Hamilton is nowhere near the lead of the driver’s title, as he can give up on those hopes. Moreover, Ferrari is trailing the title lead to McLaren by 299 points and seems to no longer be in the mix for winning it by the end. As such, Hamilton will hope to have a much better outing in the 2026 season and emerge as a winning force by then.
