Max Verstappen is officially a father—and the F1 world can’t stop talking about it. The three-time World Champion and his partner Kelly Piquet have welcomed their baby daughter, Lily Verstappen, into the world just ahead of the Miami GP.

And in true Verstappen fashion, he handled it with quiet composure, skipping Thursday’s media day to be with his family before returning to the paddock.

Speaking to F1 media ahead of Friday’s sessions, Verstappen opened up about the life-changing moment: “Luckily I got to spend a few days with them once she was born. It’s been great, you never really know what to expect but it’s been very enjoyable and it’s for sure very special.” It’s a softer, more personal side of Max that fans don’t often get to see.

Kelly Piquet, already a mother to Penelope(her daughter with former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat), now shares a growing family with Verstappen. The couple has largely kept their private life out of the spotlight, but the arrival of Lily has become a unifying celebration among fans, fellow drivers, and F1 experts.

Even Lewis Hamilton offered a warm message: “I spoke to him briefly in Saudi and saw how excited he was and big congratulations to him.” George Russell echoed the sentiment, calling it “a pretty special moment” and wishing the new parents the best.

Verstappen’s teammate Yuki Tsunoda alsi dropped a heartwarming congratulations: “Hey big daddy! Huge congratulations. Wishing you and Kelly all the best and can’t wait to see your baby!”

As Verstappen looks to keep his dominant form on track in Miami, the bigger story might be unfolding off it. Becoming a father hasn’t dulled his competitive edge—but it’s added a new dimension to the reigning champion’s life. Lily Verstappen just became the F1 paddock’s newest, tiniest VIP.
