Max Verstappen and Red Bull were expected to have yet another difficult weekend at Dutch GP. The Red Bull star has not had the best of campaigns this time around and there was little hope for his home race. Nevertheless, after a challenging session, Verstappen managed to salvage a positive result in front of the Orange Army. The reigning world champion expressed his feelings after the end of Qualifying.
Qualifying was dominated by the two McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. It was the Australian driver who had the edge this time around, albeit by just a small margin. However, Max Verstappen was not that far behind either. The four-time world champion was just over two-tenths slower than the championship leader.
After the session, Max Verstappen confessed that things were not so easy on-track with the Red Bull RB21. The Dutchman once again had to push the car to the limit. However, Verstappen claimed that the car was finally coming to its own, particularly during his final runs. This boosted confidence in the reigning world champion, with the home support only making things better.
Yeah, for sure, this weekend so far was quite tricky for us, Qualifying was the best I’ve felt all weekend. I’m very happy with that, and the energy of the crowd has been amazing.

The work is not over for Max Verstappen. A P3 slot for the Sunday race puts him in prime position to make a lunge against the two Mclarens at Turn 1. However, things won’t be so easy. The reigning world champion would need the RB21 to be able to match the Woking-based squad on-track, particularly in terms of long-run pace.
Max Verstappen was asked whether the team was confident over the car’s pace for the main race. The 27-year-old admitted that the situation was somewhat of an unknown. The Red Bull star expects the car to be more stable in terms of lap time after Qualifying. Unfortunately, Verstappen acknowledged that throughout this season, the RB21 has fallen behind rivals when it comes to race pace, something that remains a possibility for the Dutch GP. So much so, Verstappen set his sights on grabbing a podium on Sunday.
It’s a bit unknown, but I do think what we have on the car should be more stable.. but this season, our race pace in general has not been the best. But, I hope we can atleast keep the guys behind us.
Max Verstappen explained
Q: Because of the issues yesterday, is the long run pace of the car unknown?

Certainly, Max Verstappen is not having the easiest time on-track. While third place in Qualifying is not the worst possible outcome, it’s still behind Verstappen’s aim. The Dutch driver only likes to win and is not happy with anything else. Yet, the situation is forcing the 27-year-old to take a more cautious approach and salvage the best result possible. The Orange Army would be rooting for the reigning world champion to make a divebomb and clinch the lead when the five red lights go out on Sunday.
