Lewis Hamilton just cannot catch a break. The seven-time world champion is having a dismal run this year. Now, things have only gone from bad to worse for the Briton as he slammed into the wall at the Dutch GP.

The Ferrari driver had a poor start to the weekend at Zandvoort. In Qualifying, Lewis Hamilton could only manage a P7 finish. The 40-year-old did not have high expectations as his disappointing run continued. However, a DNF was certainly not on his cards.

The Dutch GP has been marred with changeable conditions. Rain started pouring just a few laps into the race. However, the rain was not enough for a full switch to intermediates, this made it tricky for drivers to carry on with slick tires in slippers conditions.

Lewis Hamilton was making his way around the infamous banking at Zandvoort. This is where the Briton seemingly lost control as he drove over the painted sponsor logos on tarmac. This was seemingly more slippery than the rest of the circuit, forcing the Ferrari car to slide. Hamilton then became nothing more than a sitting duck as the SF25 slammed into the wall. After the incident, the Briton got out of the car to pick up his front wing, perhaps helping out the marshals.

Lando Norris lashes out at engineer after Lewis Hamilton’s crash

Lewis Hamilton’s incident was not just a mistake in the rain. Rather, it was a signal to the rest of the grid regarding the track conditions, particularly on the banking. Lando Norris understood the situation and scolded his race engineer for not giving him details.

Shortly after the crash, Lando Norris asked his engineer how Lewis Hamilton collided. The McLaren driver asked whether the 40-year-old ran over the slippery green sponsor section on the banking. His race engineer confirmed that this was the case. This infuriated Norris who made it clear that he should be provided such information right away, as this could help him avoid a similar incident.

How did Hamilton crash? Did he go on the green and the green was slippery because of the rain?… Yeah you should tell me earlier. Like this is a race ending bit of information.

Lando Norris said on team radio

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton’s crash has given insight to drivers regarding the conditions. Every small part matters in F1. While Hamilton didn’t expect the sponsor section to be so slippery that he would lose control, it is a wake up call to the rest of the grid. Though, the seven-time world champion can do nothing more than try and move past this incident and focus on the next round of the season.
