The Pittsburgh Steelers are just days away from 2025 rookie minicamp.
While the spotlight will be on their 2025 NFL Draft class (especially after their numbers were revealed), there will be way more than the seven Steelers Pittsburgh selected a couple of weekends ago.
Here is the list of invites, including one player that hits close to home...
The headliner here is Eddie Faulkner IV, a defensive back from local college Slippery Rock. Faulkner the fourth is the son of Steelers RB coach Eddie Faulkner, who also served as co-offensive coordinator in 2023 after the team parted ways with Matt Canada.
This is nothing out of the ordinary for the Steelers, who believe in family roots and ties like no other. Of course, there was the pairing of T.J. Watt and Derek Watt, the current roster has Cam Heyward and Connor Heyward, and now the sons of two current staff members.
The son of Steelers scout and former tight end Mark Bruener, Carson Bruener is a LB from Washington who was selected by Pittsburgh in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
So it's a nice omen from the Steelers staff. But no mistake about it, if Faulkner can play, he will earn himself a contract. This is 90-man roster season, and the Steelers, just like every other team, are utilizing this event to get one percent better.
We'll see if any of the players invited this weekend can make that happen.
