The Western Albemarle Warriors (Crozet, Va.) are 3-1 this season behind the stellar play of quarterback Gray Heilman. As a big 6-foot-4, 200-pound field general, Heilman can move his team down the field with his elite passing skills and with his legs.
Heilman was named the team’s MVP by the Falcon Club last season. He has not disappointed thus far in 2025.
After a 2024 campaign that saw Heilman account for 2,100 yards of total offense and 20 touchdowns, Heilman has posted 800 passing yards, 190 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns in just four games this season.
Heilman and the Warriors offense have posted back-to-back shutouts this season, outscoring Madison and Harrisonburg 85-0.
In the game against Madison, Heilman threw for 245 yards, ran for 60 yards and accounted for five touchdowns in a 38-0 win.
The following week against Harrisonburg, Heilman served up an encore for the fans. He completed 17-of-18 passes for 270 yards and six touchdowns, plus another 40 yards on the ground in a 47-0 win. As a result, Heilman was named the Player of the Week by the Falcon Club.
Heilman leads an offense that averages 33 points per game. The Warriors defense is equally impressive and have allowed just 10 points scored against them this season.
On the recruiting trail, Heilman has received interest from such schools as Western Kentucky, Ferrum College (Division II), West Virginia Wesleyan and Shepard. In addition, Holy Cross, Cornell and Union University have expressed interest.
The Godfather of Recruiting, Mike Farrell, described 2026 QB Gray Heilman as “Big at 6-3, 200 and can run. Can make all the throws.”
