One of the top young names to know in the 2027 class is Fort Pierce (Fla.) Westwood linebacker Deion Jackson — and his recruitment has been taking off this spring.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound linebacker picked up a new offer from Notre Dame, adding to what’s already becoming an impressive early list of schools. Jackson shared the news shortly after speaking with Irish running backs coach Ja'Juan Seider, who delivered the offer.

“I’m excited for the offer,” Jackson told Irish Breakdown. “Notre Dame is one of my favorite schools. I was happy to even have a conversation with Coach Seider.”

Jackson's size, speed, and instincts at linebacker have made him a name to watch in Florida, and schools around the country are taking notice early. Jackson plays with great physicality and has the frame and athleticism that many coaches are looking for at the next level.

What makes this offer from Notre Dame unique, however, is who delivered it.

Seider, known for his work coaching running backs, has taken an expanded role on the Irish recruiting trail, and clearly sees something special in Jackson.

“I can tell he wants me to become something in life,” Jackson said. “Because like he said, football isn’t going to be here forever.”

That message stuck with the Florida native, who is focused on building meaningful connections throughout the process.

“Since I’ve been getting recruited, I’ve been able to build a couple relationships with the schools that offered me,” he said. “Coach Seider is a coach I can relate to.”

It’s still early in Jackson’s recruitment, but the Irish are positioning themselves well thanks to the connection with the coaching staff.

As for what will ultimately matter most in his decision?

“I have a couple schools that stand out,” Jackson said. “But when it comes to picking ‘that school,’ I’m looking for the school I have the best relationship with.”

Expect Jackson’s profile to continue rising over the next year. Notre Dame is now firmly in the mix for one of the top young defenders in the Sunshine State.

Jackson is rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 352 prospect in the nation according to On3. He holds offers from Notre Dame, Georgia, Penn State, Baylor, Kentucky, and Syracuse.
