The Alabama Crimson Tide have been assembling a strong 2026 recruiting class, which features names such as five-star cornerback Jorden Edmonds, four-star cornerback Zyan Gibson and four-star EDGE Jamarion Matthews.
Of course, the program's rich history of consistently landing some of the top players out of high school is one of the biggest reasons why it constantly competes for national championships, and it's clear it's looking to make some more additions.
One recruit the Tide have been making a big push for is safety Jett Washington out of Las Vegas, who they've hosted three times, including an official visit on May 30.
However, he also took an official visit with the Oregon Ducks on Friday, and an article from On3's Chad Simmons revealed that Alabama has started to fall behind in the safety's recruitment process.
"Oregon is doing a great job with Jett Washington," Simmons wrote. "On each visit, he has felt at home in Eugene. Alabama is their biggest competition, and both schools are high on his list, but after the visit to Oregon, we give the edge to the Ducks."
It's certainly no surprise to see these top schools battling it out for his commitment, though, as On3 Industry Rankings have Washington as a five-star recruit, the No. 3 safety and the No. 27 player in the nation.
Last season for Bishop Gorman High School, he appeared in nine games, accumulating 38 tackles, five interceptions, two pass deflections, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
His time on the field also went far from unnoticed, as Washington was named the 2024 MaxPreps Nevada High School Player of the Year.
Now, time will tell who comes out on top in this impressive recruiting battle, as the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Oregon the best chance (28.3%) and Alabama the second-best (24.8%).
