Antonio Brown explains his reasoning for making fun of NFL legend Deion Sanders

Antonio Brown has explained why he believes Deion Sanders should not be protected from the same internet jokes as everyone else.

The answer fits Brown’s online persona. He treats social media like an open stage, where fame, status and legacy do not automatically place anyone outside the punchline.

That is why his comments about Sanders stood out. Brown was not backing away from the jokes; he was explaining why he thinks they are part of the game.

Antonio Brown says Deion Sanders is not above internet entertainment

Speaking on the We Playin’ Spades podcast, Brown explained why he feels comfortable joking about Sanders despite his legendary status.

“The internet is about expressing yourself. The true purpose of a human is to express yourself at the highest frequency,” Brown said.

He added, “Deion ain’t over the entertainment line. We got to joke his a__, too.”

That is the simplest version of Brown’s logic. Sanders may be a Hall of Famer, a two-sport icon and one of football’s biggest personalities, but Brown does not believe that makes him off-limits.

Brown’s point is that Sanders has lived in the spotlight for decades. Once someone becomes part of sports entertainment at that level, Brown believes jokes and criticism come with it.

Antonio Brown’s Deion Sanders jokes became bigger because family was involved

The reason the situation became such a talking point is that Brown’s jokes were not limited to Sanders alone.

He had previously taken shots connected to the Sanders family, including Shedeur Sanders’ draft slide and Shilo Sanders’ NFL struggles. That made the online back-and-forth feel more personal, because it touched not just Coach Prime’s legacy, but also his sons’ football careers.

Brown also has a history with the Sanders family, which added another layer. When he jokes from a distance, it can look like standard trolling. When there is past familiarity, the comments feel sharper.

That is why fans reacted strongly. Sanders is not just another retired player; he is still highly visible as Colorado’s head coach and as the father of two football sons trying to build their own paths.

Brown’s explanation shows he sees all of that as fair territory for internet entertainment. Whether people agree or not, his stance is clear. Deion Sanders may be Coach Prime, but in Brown’s world, even legends can become content.
