The Wisconsin Badgers have continued to unleash a full recruiting experience for a top quarterback who could become a major commitment for the program.

Israel Abrams, a 2027 four-star quarterback, has widely been considered to be the second best quarterback in the Midwest behind Trae Taylor, a four-star Nebraska commitment. Abrams is the ninth overall quarterback in the class and the sixth overall recruit in the state of Illinois. Abrams has a long offer list already with programs like Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan State, Ole Miss, and Tennessee extending scholarship early.

For the Wisconsin Badgers, Abrams has been the premier quarterback target with the 2027 class for the program and would be a major pickup if he were to commit to the program in the future. Wisconsin has also been closely linked to three-star quarterback Chance Thomas, but has been able to communicate with Abrams easier as Thomas is a native of California. Thomas is still very much an option for the staff, but Wisconsin has been taking advantage of Abrams being so close to campus.

During the recent loss to Maryland, Wisconsin managed to host Abrams for an unofficial visit which still resulted in a positive experience for the recruit. The Badgers have been showing tons of love to the quarterback and the consistent contact between the two sides appears to be paying off for Wisconsin at the moment.

While the Badgers may not have had the best performance on the field, Abrams still received tons of love and had a positive game-day experience with Wisconsin. Abrams and the Badgers appear to still be in good standing despite some outside noise regarding whether or not the staff has done enough to win games up to this point. However, the bigger issue for Wisconsin may not be on-field performances but rather an opposing program that is also interested in Abrams.

The Iowa State Cyclones have been by most accounts the leader in the recruitment of Abrams so far, with the program previously receiving an expert prediction. The quarterback has been receiving the most attention from Wisconsin and Iowa State, but has spent significantly more time with the Cyclones which could pay off for the program in the end. Minnesota has been another program that has been close to Abrams and could be an active player in the future.

For the Badgers, recruiting Abrams will mean the staff needs to continue to keep both a close eye on the recruit and open line of contact. The quarterback has not indicated an incoming commitment decision any time soon, which means the process is still young in the eyes of Abrams.
