The Houston Cougars will be the No. 1 seed for the second year in a row when the Big 12 men’s basketball tournament begins on Tuesday in Kansas City.
All games will be at T-Mobile Arena in Kansas City. First-round games are set for Tuesday, with second-round games on Wednesday and quarterfinals on Thursday. All three days feature quadrupleheaders.
The semifinal games will be on Friday and the championship game will be on Saturday. The winner of the tournament receives the league’s automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament.
Houston, along with Texas Tech, Arizona and BYU receive double byes and will not play until the quarterfinals, giving each two extra days of rest on the field.
Iowa State, West Virginia, Baylor and Kansas received single byes to the second round and won’t play until Wednesday, giving each school one extra day of rest on the remaining eight teams, which will play on the opening day.
The winner of the tournament receives the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Texas won the tournament title last year.
