Buffalo Bills receiver Keon Coleman needed a big offseason after a rookie year that underwhelmed with the receiver dealing with injury and bad form.
Now, as part of a receiver room that many think he should be the leader of, Coleman has taken it in his stride and has worked tirelessly to improve on his craft. Given the state of the receiver room for some, with the lack of a No. 1 weapon, the hope is that Keon can develop into that for Josh Allen.
But what has offensive coordinator Joe Brady seen in Coleman's development this offseason?
"There's a lot in a positive way,” Brady said. “He’s been so intentional about what he's working on. We go ou t to practice, you can see him coming back and talking through it with Josh [Allen], and the communication skills. Last year, he's probably scared to death of the starting quarterback.
"Now, he feels comfortable telling Josh if it was a bad throw. So, he's on that comfort level, but he's so intentional about what he's working on. Yeah, he's being more physical, he's understanding his release game, how he needs to play, but to me, the intentionality that he's going out with practice has been really fun to watch.”
So, it is clear that Keon is taking all of this seriously, as he looks to make a second-year leap and be the weapon Buffalo drafted him to be. Yes, we get it, doing it in training camp is fine, but fans want to see this progression with real NFL bullets flying.
Now, we don't expect Coleman to have 1,500 yards and 10 touchdowns, but be a better player than he was last season, and going by Brady's words, we could be set for quite the season with Keon.
