Brad Keselowski reflects on welcoming fourth child ahead of must-win Daytona finale

Regardless of what happens in Saturday’s NASCAR Cup Series regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway, it’s been a good week for Brad Keselowski. His wife, Paige, gave birth to the couple’s fourth child.

That being said, Keselowski would like to finish the week off strong. In order to do that, he needs to win the Coke Zero Sugar 400 — it’s his only way of gaining entry into the playoffs.

“It has been a good week; I’d like to finish it strong,” Keselowski told Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “We’re running really well, we’re competitive. Obviously, off the track, having a baby was great. Lot of really good things going on.”

Brad Keselowski has been strong of late, he needs to win at Daytona

If Keselowski had started the regular season as he’s finished it, perhaps he wouldn’t be in a must-win situation. The 2012 Cup champion has seven top 10s in his last 11 starts, finishing runner-up at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta and third at Iowa Speedway.

Of course, every race matters. The beginning of the season where Keselowski could hardly crack a top 20 finish let alone a top 10 was always going to put him in must-win territory. It’s also, however, the only path in for RFK Racing teammates Chris Buescher and Ryan Preece.

Buescher and Preece are 11th and 13th in the points standings, respectively, but like Keselowski, are winless this season. It’s hard to imagine a playoff without RFK, which has been consistent throughout the 2025 campaign. They can’t gripe about that now, the only thing they can do is go out there and win.

“Win the race,” Keselowski said of RFK’s strategy. “You try to plan for races that have so much chaos and it’s kind of absurd to try to do that. You just try to survive and win at the end.”
