When an opportunity arises, you have to jump on it. BYU did exactly this, as linebacker Nusi Taumoepeau became available after recently being released by Stanford, which resulted in his commitment to the Cougars this morning.

Taumoepeau, 6-foot-3 and 205-pounds, asked for his release on Friday after Stanford recently fired head coach Troy Taylor. BYU quickly swooped in and sealed the deal. The linebacker was already familiar with the program, having attended high school at Westlake in Saratoga Springs, Utah. He also took an official visit to Provo last year.
Taumoepeau enjoyed a fantastic senior season at Westlake, finishing with 88 tackles and 13 sacks. Aside from Stanford and BYU, he also seriously considered Oklahoma State, Cal, Utah, Arizona, Boise State, Iowa State and Miami before his initial commitment to the Cardinal.
