Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has quickly become one of the most iconic figures in all of sports. With her second WNBA season just over a month away, she made one final offseason stop at the Masters Tournament this weekend.
While enjoying her time at Augusta National with her family, Clark sat down for an interview with "Under the Umbrella" on the Masters’ YouTube channel, where she discussed a range of topics.
One question touched on Michael Jordan and the tradition of athletes bringing their golf clubs on the road during basketball season. That led Clark to share one of her favorite stories about Golden State Warriors superstar—and avid golfer—Stephen Curry.
"I think one of my favorite stories is when Steph Curry... I think it was the Finals, they had just lost and he didn't play very well. The next day they had off, and he didn’t want to go to the gym—he wanted to go to the golf course and just hit balls. Then the day after that, he came out and had like 45 points and shot really well," Clark said. "I think it just shows how calming golf can be for professional athletes, but also how it taps into their competitive side... and obviously Steph is really good. But that’s one of my favorite stories."
Clark shared that golf serves as a great escape for her and many other athletes—a key reason why she’s grown to love the game.
The former Iowa star appeared in two different Pro-Am events this offseason: The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge and The RSM Classic. At both tournaments, she drew significant attention, with fans showing up in droves to watch her compete.
During the Gainbridge event, Clark had the opportunity to play alongside world No. 1 Nelly Korda and golf legend Annika Sorenstam, making for a memorable experience on the course.
Now, with Masters Sunday finally here, the anticipation is palpable as the world waits to see who will claim the coveted green jacket. While it’s unclear whether Clark will be attending the final round, she’s already made her prediction—picking Rory McIlroy, who enters the day holding a two-shot lead.
