Carlos Alcaraz Addresses Injury Concerns After Third Round Victory at US Open

Second seed Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the fourth round of the US Open 2025 in commanding fashion, defeating Italy’s Luciano Darderi 6-2, 6-4, 6-0. The Spaniard displayed his trademark explosiveness and creativity, dismantling Darderi with a his powerful groundstrokes and impeccable serving.

However, midway through the second set, Alcaraz sparked concern among fans when he called for a medical timeout to receive treatment on his right thigh and knee. The sight of the 22-year-old being attended to on court raised questions about his fitness moving into the second week of the tournament.

Speaking after the match, Alcaraz was quick to reassure everyone that the issue was nothing serious.

“I'm feeling good. Just as a precaution, I called the physiotherapist when he broke my serve on the last point. I felt something that wasn't working well in my knee. After 5, 6 points, it disappeared,” Alcaraz explained. “I asked the physiotherapist just to take care of the knee, because there was 1 set left, I had to be ready and feeling good physically. Precaution. I'll talk to my team, but I'm not worried about it.”

Alcaraz’s clinical performance in the third set, where he bageled Darderi 6-0, further underlined that the knee scare had not hindered his gameplay. With the victory, he booked his spot in the second week of the US Open, where the competition will only intensify.

While his fans will undoubtedly keep a close eye on his physical condition, Alcaraz’s words and form suggest he remains primed for a deep run in New York
