Chad Johnson made the most of his appearance at the UFC 327 press conference and wasn’t shy about it either.
This weekend, UFC 327 heads to Miami, where Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg will square off for the vacant light heavyweight belt.
And among those in attendance was Chad Johnson. The former wide receiver wasn’t there just to listen in—he had a few things he wanted to ask, too.
Back in September, Chad ‘Ochocinco’ made it clear that he wanted to fight Jame Harrison in an MMA bout.
Dana White quickly dismissed the idea, pointing out that Johnson was too old to be entering the sport. However, Johnson hasn’t backed down from his interest in fighting. At the UFC 327 press conference, he brought it up again.
“Dana, I want a f—— fight,” he said after directing questions towards Cub Swanson and Josh Hokit. White brushed him off again, replying: “I know, I’m aware. Who’s got the next question?”
Recently, there has been a noticeable shift in Dana White’s attitude towards unconventional matchups within the UFC. He’s spoken openly about ongoing discussions with NFL player Maxx Crosby and NBA player Jaylen Brown, who have both been training at the UFC Apex.
White even went as far as to say that Crosby could be holding a UFC title by 2030.
Unlike Johnson – who is well past his playing days – both Crosby and Brown are still active and in peak form, which might explain why White is more receptive to their involvement than bringing Ochocinco into the sport.
Before asking White for a fight during the press conference, Johnson had already stirred things up by calling out several big names including Dustin Poirier, Max Holloway, Conor McGregor and Jon Jones.
