Is it possible that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy is flying under the radar heading into the 2025 season?
Many are excited for the returns of Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown, and newcomers Jalen Royals and Tyquan Thornton are getting a lot of hype. However, Worthy has been in rhythm with the Chiefs' offense more than any other WR dating back to last season.
When Rice and Brown went down in 2024, Worthy had to accelerate his development. He answered the call, catching 53 passes for 679 yards and six touchdowns throughout Kansas City’s final 10 games (including the postseason). Following Tuesday's training camp practice, Chiefs WR coach Connor Embree told the media that Worthy has refined his game.
"After the season me and him had a good talk of what he needs to get better at," Embree said. "I think he did a good job in the offseason, especially in the summer, of working on the stuff we were talking about. I think it shows on the field. He's not just a straight line go-route guy. He can run multiple routes. I really like what he's done. Came back in great shape, and he's gotten better at route running."
Worthy will have the opportunity to show that he is a more complete player this season. He's still a valuable deep threat, but his ability to get off the line of scrimmage fast and change directions on a dime is going to give even the best defensive backs a hard time defending him.

With Rice facing an incoming suspension and Brown already battling injuries, the Chiefs could be leaning on Worthy to lead the way again in 2025. Once Rice serves his suspension, and if Brown can stay healthy, the three could make up one of the best WR trios in the league.
