Top Storyline: Can the City Reapers become the first ever OTE dynasty?
The City Reapers have won the last two OTE Championships and now the question is what will it take for them to win their third in a row and establish themselves as the first ever OTE dynasty? The City Reapers return some of the best players from last year's championship team while they also added some of the league’s premiere talent to the roster. The Reapers are unquestionably one of the favorites heading into the 2024-25 season
The Reapers returned three key contributors from last year’s championship squad: Bryson Tiller, Amari Evans and Tyler Jackson. Tiller was an All-OTE Second Team member during the 2024 season, nearly averaging a double-double with 12.2 PPG and 9.4 RPG. Evans is the reigning DPOY and looks to expand his game this season, as evidenced by his average of 19.3 PPG, 7.8 RPG and 4.3 APG in four preseason games. Evans will also be announcing his college commitment at 6:45 PM before the games on Friday night as he chooses between Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Xavier. The Reapers also bring back Jackson who had the biggest moment of his career in the OTE Finals when he knocked down two free throws in the closing seconds of game 5 to ice the game and give the Reapers their second consecutive title
The Reapers brought back some elite talent but they also added some guys who could emerge as the league’s top players. Meleek Thomas is the highest ranked player in the class of 2025 (#8 according to On3) at OTE and it's clear why. He is an undeniable leader on and off the court, he is one of the purest scorers in the league and is also one of the most gifted passers at OTE. The Reapers also made a blockbuster trade right before the OTE Draft and acquired sharpshooter Jayden WIlkins from RWE. In addition, athletic big man Moustapha Diop and elite perimeter defender Micah Tucker have also been added to the roster this season
Head Coach Doug Martin brings his championship pedigree back to the Reapers and is now tasked with finding a way to mold this team with immense talent into another champion contender
The City Reapers begin their season on Friday, November 1 at 9 PM when they take on the Cold Hearts in a rematch of the 2024 semi-finals on OTE’s YouTube channel
