Kent State's winless season came to a fitting end on Tuesday, closing out a brutal campaign with a resounding thud.
The Golden Flashes were overwhelmed by Buffalo in a 43-7 rout, finishing their season at 0-12. Kent State’s winless campaign marks the first time an FBS team has gone 0-12 since 2019.
In a year filled with lopsided outcomes, only two of their games were decided by fewer than three scores: a narrow two-point defeat to Ball State and a loss to FCS St. Francis. Kent State was outscored 529-167 this season.
"Where do you even go from here as a program?" one fan pondered. "Like, what’s the next move?"
Head coach Kenni Burns is now 1-22 over two seasons at Kent State, with the team's lone win coming over Central Connecticut State last season.
"Fire anyone associated with this awful program," one fan said. "Anyone who bought season tickets or tickets to a game this year should get a full refund."
"Kent State might actually be the worst football team of all time," another fan chimed in. "I can’t believe what I’m watching."
The 2024 season marks Kent State's first winless campaign since 1998, when the Golden Flashes finished 0-11. The program also endured 0-11 seasons in 1982, 1989, and 1993.
