It should go without saying just how dominant Arizona’s been this season, sitting at a perfect 22-0. They rank first in just about every single metric, but don’t overlook Texas Tech. The Red Raiders have lost six games, sitting at 16-6, but there isn’t a single bad loss on their resume. Their losses have come against five ranked teams, No. 14 Illinois, No. 1 Purdue, No. 17 Arkansas, No. 7 Houston, and No. 11 Kansas, and one surging unranked team, the UCF Knights.
From a bracket perspective, this game has some massive implications. Arizona has basically locked up a one seed at this point, likely even with a loss or two, while Texas Tech is one of the best teams in the country and looking to secure a Top 16 overall seed. The biggest narrative for the Big 12 is the fight to land multiple No. 1 seeds in the Big Dance, and right now, the nearest two are Arizona (No. 1 overall) and Iowa State (No. 7 overall). Still, if Texas Tech goes on a run, don’t count them out.
Arizona is currently ranked No. 11 in total offense and No. 54 defensively. Texas Tech mirrors that with an explosive offense and decent defense, but it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest and best games of the season. Now all that’s left to do is wait.
