Four-star offensive tackle Deacon Schmitt, a top 2026 recruit from Windsor, Colorado, has narrowed his college choices to three powerhouse programs: Colorado, Oklahoma, and Alabama, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 310 pounds, Schmitt is ranked No. 362 nationally, the No. 29 offensive tackle, and the No. 1 overall prospect in Colorado, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Schmitt recently canceled his official visits to USC, Tennessee, and Nebraska, signaling that his recruitment is nearing its conclusion. He has already taken official visits to each of his final three schools and plans to announce his decision on June 28.

Colorado is making a strong push to keep Schmitt in-state, aiming to land their first top-ranked homegrown recruit since 2017. Schmitt has a deep connection with the Boulder community, saying the opportunity to be a “hometown hero” is meaningful to him. He praised CU’s environment, coaching staff, and the overall program direction.

“The environment is always a blast!” Schmitt told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “Growing up in Colorado, I have been around Boulder a lot! The opportunity to become a hometown hero is very special to me. I love CU in general. Everyone there is awesome and they are working on something very special! Love all the OL coaches as well. They’re definitely a great school that I have a lot of love for.”

As June 28 approaches, the Buffaloes, Sooners, and Crimson Tide eagerly await a decision that could shape the future of their offensive lines and potentially keep Colorado’s top talent at home.
