The March international break is here, and the Portuguese national team will play against two of the 2026 World Cup host nations, Mexico and the United States.
Portugal will have a squad with most of their star players, but it will be without their top goalscorer, Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Al Nassr last month.
Ronaldo was ruled out for Portugal's friendly matches next week, but the Portuguese striker teased that his recovery is going well with a recent Instagram post. Ronaldo posted a picture of himself at the gym, with the caption that read, "Getting better every day."
Ronaldo is expected to be fully recovered in two weeks. What fans did not expect from the comment section was the comment from former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight champion Conor McGregor, who wrote a similar tease note in response to Ronaldo's post.
Under Cristiano Ronaldo's Instagram post teasing his full recovery, Conor McGregor wrote, "Me too, Champ!" under his post, which received loads of likes and responses from fans.
One fan wrote, "Come back bro, come on." McGregor was heavily rumored to return to the UFC octagon for the UFC Freedom 250 card on June 14, 2026, on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C., United States, but he did not make the card.
McGregor's comment under Ronaldo's post was the most liked in the comment section, and fans hope that Ronaldo's post has motivated McGregor to make a comeback in the UFC.
