Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are having as disappointing of a season as they have had in recent memory over halfway through 2024.
Coach Mike McCarthy had previously led Dallas to three straight 12-win seasons, but they failed to make any noise in the postseason. Last year may have been the most frustrating ending for them, as the No. 2 Cowboys were dominated by the No. 7 Green Bay Packers at AT&T Stadium.
Although Jones said he was "all in" on the Cowboys following the Wild Card loss, he failed to make any significant moves in the offseason to improve the roster, and Dallas is paying for it.
Amid a 3-7 start, McCarthy has now found himself on the hot seat. If Jones elects to dismiss the former Super Bowl-winning coach, many, including former Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin, want him to chase Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders as the next leader of the team.
Last Friday, Irvin and Jones appeared live on Netflix for the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. The former wideout mentioned he would "be in Jerry's ear" about hiring Coach Prime. However, the Cowboys owner and general manager elected not to acknowledge those comments.

With rumors growing of Sanders potentially joining the Cowboys in 2025, Jones joined 105.3 The FAN, a local Dallas radio show, on Thursday and finally revealed his thoughts on Coach Prime taking his talents back to the NFL.
"We're way ahead of ourselves in terms of when and if he decides to go into coaching in the NFL," Jones said. "One of his greatest skills [for] college is that he almost has no peer as far as being a recruiter... Not a huge prerequisite for NFL."

Although Sanders has been adamant about his return to Boulder, many still seem to think he could, in fact, move on, especially with his son, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, likely heading to the NFL himself.
But, given the recent Buffaloes' addition of Julian Lewis, one of the top QB prospects in 2025, it may be hard for Sanders to leave such a good situation.
