Dallas Stars brutally snubbed as no prospects make Top 100 list

The Dallas Stars have been one of the NHL's most consistent playoff teams, but when it comes to prospect rankings, they just got completely disrespected.

EliteProspects released its Top 100 NHL-affiliated prospects list for the 2025-26 season, and not a single Dallas player was included. For a franchise that continues to develop talent, this feels like a slap in the face.

Last year, defenseman Lian Bichse l was ranked at No. 68 before graduating to the NHL, where he logged 38 games with the Stars and collected nine points.

His success story shows the pipeline is working, but apparently the next wave of Stars talent didn't matter enough to earn recognition.

The most obvious snub is Emil Hemming, Dallas' 2024 first-round pick. Hemming produced 48 points in 60 OHL games with the Barrie Colts, then exploded in the playoffs with 15 points in 16 games.

Yet EliteProspects left him out entirely. As Yahoo Sports noted, Hemming is expected to return to Barrie and should take another step forward this season.

Dallas Stars prospects like Emil Hemming and Cameron Schmidt snubbed in NHL rankings

Another puzzling omission is Cameron Schmidt. Drafted 94th overall this summer, Schmidt scored 40 goals and 38 assists in the WHL.

Despite being ranked 22nd by EliteProspects and 20th by The Hockey News' Tony Ferrari, he was only tossed into "honourable mention" status.

"How can you ignore a 40-goal scorer?" one fan asked on social media. Another put it simply: "The Stars always get overlooked, it's ridiculous."

For a team that has developed stars like Jason Robertson and Wyatt Johnston, these rankings look like a joke.

Personally, I think this will only motivate Schmidt and Hemming to prove critics wrong, much like Logan Stankoven did before.
