The fashion world is in mourning on Thursday after it was announced that Italian designer Giorgio Armani passed away at the age of 91.
Messages of support, gratitude and condolences have since been pouring in from across the globe. Soccer icon David Beckham was one of the celebrities who shared his heartfelt reaction to the tragic news.
Beckham, who was one of, if not the most prominent Armani brand ambassador during the late 2000s, took to social media to share a painful message on the passing of the fashion legend.
“A very sad day as we say goodbye to a very special man… Kind, generous, humble & a true gentleman… Giorgio Armani One of a kind ” Beckham posted on his Instagram stories, along with a photo with the fashion icon.

Beckham signed multiple endorsement deals with Armani during the prime of his legendary soccer career. This includes a £20 million contract in 2007 to become the global face of Armani underwear. The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy superstar kept close ties with the company and, of course, its founder.
The Armani Group announced on Thursday that Armani “passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.” The cause of death was not indicated in the statement.
It is worth noting, however, that Armani missed the Milan Fashion Week in June for the first time in 50 years. At that time, he was reportedly recovering from an “undisclosed condition.”
As for Beckham, the British soccer icon is now keeping himself busy building his empire. He co-founded MLS club Inter Miami in 2018, which now has a reported value of $1.2 billion . Along with his wife, former Spice Girls member Victoria Beckham, the 50-year-old reportedly has a staggering net worth of $450 million.
