With RAM now officially coming back to trucks, we know it’s not long till Dodge eyes its cup return. With Dodge telling everybody about their plans to return to trucks in ’26 with RAM and then Cup in ’27. Now, of course, 2027 is not that far away, so it’s no surprise that Dodge has been talking to Cup Series teams already.
But which teams are likely to make the switch? That’s exactly what I’m here to talk to you about! Starting with Kaulig Racing! The struggles of the once-up-and-coming Xfinity team have become a recurring theme in my articles recently, as it’s no secret. The transition from lower-series juggernauts to Cup Series regulars has never been a pretty transition, looking at the history of the likes of HScott, Germain, Diamond Ridge, and others.
But what doesn’t help is being a Chevy team. There are 5 other Cup Series teams with Chevy. Some are long-time staples of the series, and others are new but with tons of funding. This leaves Kaulig a team with neither in the dry. This is what makes Dodge the perfect place to start building new foundations for Kaulig and a couple of other Chevy teams I’ll mention later.
With a lot fewer horses going for the same troughs, it gives Kaulig more room to become closer to Dodge than Chevy, and if they can move past previous mistakes, it will make them the competitive and race-winning team they’ve aimed to be since coming into the Cup Series.
While to some, Front Row Motorsports being anything but Ford is a crime, FRM not only did not start as a Ford team but also started as a Dodge team. Well, Dodge and Chevy were the life of a 2000s backmarker. But even then, Ford, while not as crowded as Chevy, is crowded as well, especially with competitive teams.
Like Penske, RFK, and the Wood Brothers. This year, they were upgraded to the Tier A Ford team, and that’s gotten them their worst season of the 2020s so far. Taking their experience, incredible ability to sniff out driver talent, and team-building strategies to the Dodge wagon could be the move to finally turn team FRM from midpack hopefuls to regular race winners!
I wrote about all the struggles Spire is facing; I’ll link here, and man, are there a lot! While there is no one solution that’ll dig them out of the massive hole they’re in, stepping out of the crowded and ambitious Chevy crowd could be the perfect start! They quickly formed a bond with the established Chevy, so it should be easy and perhaps beneficial to do the same with Dodge. It even serves as a way to develop Dodge talent, similar to how they develop their truck team with Chevy or the Xfinity team, depending on whether the rumors come true!
I have to be real. Since they bought out JTG, I don’t think most fans have even noticed. With them having the same font, sponsors minus Kroger, and the same driver, there’s been Zero effort to differentiate. Switching to Dodge is a great way to not only give Hyak its own brand-new identity but also show people they’re much more ambitious than JTG. Using that to attract sponsors and get close to the infamously ambitious Dodge. Stenhouse has consistently outperformed the midpack equipment he’s been given. Like in the first half of this season, he is the perfect driver to build up a future contender. Thanks a bunch for reading!
