The Cincinnati Cyclones have announced they have signed goaltender Kyle McClellan for the 2025-26 season. McClellan, 26, is coming off his rookie season in the ECHL with the Iowa Heartlanders. In 35 games, he went 15-5-5 with a 2.62 GAA, .898SV%, and two shutouts. He also saw action in three Kelly Cup Playoff games. McClellan is currently the only goalie on an ECHL deal with Cincinnati. I would expect McClellan and Vyacheslav Peska to split the duties for the Cyclones in net.

Prior to going pro, McClellan played four seasons at the NCAA level. He spent his first two seasons at Mercyhurst University, where he compiled a 14-17-2 record with a 2.46 GAA, a .932 SV%, and four shutouts in 33 games with the Lakers. The 6’1 goaltender would spend the following two seasons at the University of Wisconsin. In 49 games with the Badgers, he went 27-18-1 with a 2.28 GAA, .920SV%, and seven shutouts. During his final season at Wisconsin, he put up a 24-12-1 record with a 1.94 GAA, .931SV%, and seven shutouts. McClellan would win the Mike Richter Award, as well as being a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.
“Having stability in the goal crease is a critical part of piecing together a team that can compete in the ECHL over the course of a 72-game season,” said Cyclones Head Coach Riley Weselowski. “Kyle is one of the top young goalies in the league and he will give our team a chance to win every time he takes the ice.”

The Manchester, Missouri, native began his career in the NAHL with the Austin Bruins. In 44 games with the Bruins, he put up a 22-17-4 record with a 2.31 GAA, .915SV%, and five shutouts. McClellan would also be named to the NAHL (Central) All-Star Team. He also saw action in four playoff games, where he went 1-3 with a 2.54 GAA and .912SV%. The following season, he would head to the USHL, joining the Omaha Lancers. In 32 games with the Lancers, he went 16-7-4 with a 2.39 GAA, .909SV, and three shutouts.
