Jason Horvath started his junior career in the 2017-18 season, where he spent four seasons in the QMJHL, splitting his time between the Shawinigan Cataractes and Halifax Mooseheads. In 209 QMJHL games, Horvath had ten goals and 54 assists for 64 points. Horvath was an alternate captain for the Mooseheads in the 2020-21 season. He would add one assist in three QMJHL playoff games.
After his QMJHL career, Horvath signed in the ECHL with the Maine Mariners, where he spent the 2021-22 season. He then signed with the LNAH’s Thetford Mines Assurancia, playing in two games before returning to the ECHL with the Trois-Rivières Lions and later the Rapid City Rush. In the 2023-24 season, he signed with Gyergyói HK in Erste Liga and Romania. Horvath then returned to North America, playing in one game with Thetford before signing back in the ECHL with the Maine Mariners. He was then traded to the Idaho Steelheads in the 2024-25 season, finishing the season with the Steelheads.
Horvath has played in 114 games, where he has two goals and 35 assists for 37 points. In 22 games with the Steelheads in the 2024-25 season, Horvath registered 12 assists with 21 penalty minutes and a +1.
Jason Horvath is a defensive defenseman who can provide a bit of offense when needed. Horvath can provide speed and size for the Steelheads with his defensive play. While he may not always find himself on the scoresheet, Horvath is able to set up his teammates to score, usually getting the “invisible” assist on goals.
