The Tahoe Knight Monsters have announced that they’ve signed forward Casey McDonald for the 2026-27 season. McDonald, 25, made his ECHL debut at the end of last season, where he had two goals and an assist for three points in 13 games with the South Carolina Stingrays. Tahoe now has four forwards and four defensemen signed for the 2026-27 season.

Junior and NCAA Career

Prior to going pro, the Kindersley, Saskatchewan, native spent his junior career in the SJHL, USHL, and BCHL. He began his career in the SJHL, playing in nine games with the Yorktown Terriers while putting up a goal and an assist. In 13 games during the 2019 playoffs, he had two assists. McDonald would then spend the next two seasons in the USHL with the Fargo Force. Over the course of two seasons with Fargo, he had nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points in 83 games. He would add an assist in eight games during the playoffs. McDonald finished his junior career with a bang, putting up 20 goals and 17 assists for 32 points in 52 games in the BCHL with the Penticton Vees. He would add five goals and four assists for nine points in 20 playoff games as the Vees captured the 2022 BCHL Championship.

After finishing his junior career, McDonald headed to the NCAA, where he spent his first three years at American International College. Over the course of 76 games with the Yellow Jackets, he put up 12 goals and 10 assists for 22 points. He would spend his final year at Long Island University, where he had four goals and six assists for 10 points in 31 games as a member of the Sharks.
