Ecuador and Saudi Arabia meet in an international friendly at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey. Both teams continue their build-up toward the 2026 World Cup.
It’s only the second-ever meeting between the two teams, with their previous encounter in 2022 ending in a 0-0 draw. This time, both teams arrive in very different stages of preparation but both want to sharpen up before the tournament in North America.
Ecuador finished second in CONMEBOL qualifying, losing just two of 18 matches and showing strong defensive numbers under Sebastián Beccacece.
They head into the tournament drawn in a tough Group E alongside Germany, Côte d’Ivoire, and Curaçao. They will use this friendly as one of their final tests before their opening match against Côte d’Ivoire in Philadelphia.
Saudi Arabia is entering a new phase under head coach Georgios Donis after a late managerial change. The Green Falcons are preparing for another World Cup appearance, drawn in Group H with Spain, Uruguay, and Cape Verde.
