The start of the 2025 college football season is just 15 days away.
While Week 0 has a couple intriguing matchups like Iowa State vs. Kansas State in Ireland, one of the biggest games of the year will take place the following week. No. 1 Texas will travel to Columbus to face No. 2 Ohio State on Aug. 30. It marks the first time in history that the top two teams will meet in the season opener.
Now that we're inching closer to the season, several preseason rankings are being released across national media networks. On Friday, ESPN revealed its preseason SEC power rankings for the 2025 season.
To no surprise, Texas holds the top spot in the SEC. The Longhorns are No. 1 in the Coaches Poll as well, and will likely land at No. 1 in the initial AP Poll whenever it's released.
Georgia (No. 2), Alabama (No. 3), LSU (No. 4), and Texas A&M (No. 5) round out ESPN's top five SEC teams heading into the season.

The Longhorns will face conference foes Florida, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Arkansas, and Texas A&M this season. That's a fairly favorable draw for Texas.
Anything can happen in a rivalry game when it comes to facing Oklahoma and Texas A&M, but outside of the Georgia matchup, the Longhorns should feel confident in every other game on the schedule.
Texas is looking to reach the SEC Championship Game for the second year in a row.
