Elite mountain guiding company Climbing the Seven Summits (“CTSS”) is currently heading for the summit of Mt. Everest. Their first team, the ‘Western Guided’ team, left Camp 3 (approximately 23,500 ft.) on May 12th enroute for the South Col, or Camp 4 (approximately 26,000 ft.). Camp 4 is the highest, and final camp, on the southeast ridge route on Everest.
The CTSS ‘Western Guided’ team is led by accomplished climber and guide Josh McDowell, and Nani Strahringer. The CTSS leaders reported light, to no, crowds as they made their way from Camp 3 to Camp 4, which is wonderful news considering the mass of climbers pictured last season on the same route. They also noted clear blue skies, which also bodes well for their summit bid expected on May 13th - assuming all goes well!
The following is from their communication from Camp 4, the South Col: “We are looking at no crowds and clear skies as they climb throughout the night and into the morning. We expect summits early on the 13th around sunrise. Please remember no news, is good news. It is a long summit day and not unusual not to hear much, as Guides conserve radio batteries. It’s a case of heads down, keep moving". This is excellent news from Josh McDowell and the CTSS ‘Western Guided’ team, and we wish them safety and success as they set out for the summit of the highest mountain in the world – Mt. Everest, 29,029 ft.
