For Emeka Egbuka, The Sky is the Limit

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers put up an impressive showing last season offensively. According to Fox Sports, the Bucs finished the third highest offensive yards per game, racking up 399.5 yards of average offense and 59 regular season touchdowns.

They did suffer a pivotal loss of Chris Godwin, but saw the emergence of their young tight end Cade Otton.

Tampa Bay already has a very loaded receiver room. They have the consistent star Mike Evans, returning Chris Godwin from injury, Jalen McMillan, and a former favorite target of Baker Mayfield at the University of Oklahoma, Sterling Shepard. With the 19th pick in the draft, they added the exceptional receiver out of Ohio State, Emeka Egbuka.

Dexter Jackson, the MVP of the team’s first Super Bowl XXXVII victory, sees the vision.

During a visit on Roto Grinders, Jackson said, “With the talent that he has combined with the ability to learn from (the two veteran stars), the sky is the limit for him.”

Egbuka showed several characteristics that made him an attractive option for the Buccaneers. He tallied up an impressive 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns in his final season with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He averaged more than 12.5 yards per reception on the season. He would display his ability to catch the ball in traffic, as well as his ability to take the top of the defense with his speed.

How does Egbuka fit in with his fellow receiving weapons? He will more than likely end up playing as the slot receiver to begin the season, with the occasional streak route from the outside. However, quarterback Baker Mayfield has proven that he has the arm strength and ability to spread the ball around.

With a lot of attention being paid to Evans and Godwin, the sky may truly be the limit for Egbuka's impact in his rookie season.
