The Las Vegas Raiders had arguably the worst offense in the entire NFL last season under head coach Antonio Pierce. During their bye week, the team decided to move on from offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, as well as a handful of positional coaches whose groups were not performing up to snuff.
One of these coaches was offensive line coach James Cregg, who has been working as an assistant for major college football programs and NFL teams since 1997. On Tuesday, On3 Sports reported that Cregg was joining Lane Kiffin's staff at Ole Miss this season and he will serve as an analyst for the Rebels.
Cregg and Kiffin have been joined at the hip for a good portion of their coaching careers. Kiffin first hired Cregg as an assistant offensive line coach for the Oakland Raiders in 2007, a position that he held for two seasons. Then, he followed Kiffin to Tennessee and the University of Southern California, where he was the offensive line coach for one and four seasons, respectively.
Once he and Kiffin parted ways in 2013, Cregg joined the Denver Broncos' staff as an assistant offensive line coach and won a Super Bowl with the franchise in 2015. He was also the offensive line coach and run game coordinator for the LSU Tigers when they won the National Championship in 2019.
Simply put, Cregg has a great rapport with Kiffin and has been a winner at almost every stop in his coaching career. He'll join Joe Judge on the panel of analysts in Oxford who are hoping to take this Rebels program to new heights.
