For the second year in a row, the Minnesota Golden Gophers volleyball team had a player selected in the Pro Volleyball Federation draft.
With the first pick in the third round (17th overall), the Orlando Valkyries selected Gophers opposite/outside hitter Lydia Grote.

Grote has been fantastic for the Maroon and Gold this season.
The redshirt senior has averaged 2.95 kills, .80 blocks, 1.51 digs and .32 service aces per set while posting a 100% receiving rate. For reference, she's one of just five players in the Big Ten to be averaging at least that many kills and blocks per set this season. Additionally, she's one of just 18 qualified players in the conference averaging that many aces per set.
After helping the Gophers for the rest of this season, she'll now head to Orlando to start her career. She's the second Gopher to ever be selected in the PVF draft, following Kylie Murr, who was selected 17th overall by Vegas last year.
The Valkyries finished 8-16 in the inaugural season of the Pro Volleyball Federation, so she'll be tasked with helping them get on the right track.
The No. 15 Gophers finish the regular-season this week at Illinois on Wednesday and then vs. Ohio State on Friday before the NCAA Tournament starts next month.
The 2025 PVF season will begin on Jan. 9 when Grote and Orlando host the San Diego Mojo.
