Green Bay Packers rookie wide receivers Matthew Golden and Savion Williams are the newest members of the team’s exciting crop of skill position players. With plenty of excitement already percolating amongst fans, Golden and Williams are already demonstrating some signs of good chemistry off the field.

Newest Green Bay Packers Wide Receivers Are

After the Green Bay Packers drafted Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden in the 2025 NFL Draft’s first round, they later followed up their receiver room additions by selecting TCU product Savion Williams in the third round. Together, the two players give the Packers great promise in an already deep position group looking for some high-end potential.

With a crowded depth chart to contend with, Golden and Williams will need to be at their best to ensure consistent playing time and trust from Packers QB Jordan Love. Nonetheless, the two seem to be making an effort to be good teammates and become friends off the field.

Matthew Golden and Savion Williams Spending Time Together Off the Field

Golden and Williams have already been hanging out together. After the NFLPA Rookie Premiere last week, the two of them were had dinner together.

On the Up and Adams show, host Kay Adams revealed that after speaking with both Golden and Williams, they felt that there was not a lot to do in Green Bay in terms of fun activities off the field. During her interview with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, he acknowledged that there is some truth to the statement but also provided a few options for them.

“There’s a lot to do, it’s just, you know, it’s not gonna be flashy. It’s gonna be go down to the river and fish, or go golfing.”

Days after the LaFleur interview, at the Green Bay Charity Softball Game, hosted by Love, Golden revealed that he and Williams went fishing together. While he did not explicitly say it was at the recommendation of LaFleur, it is very possible he got wind of the advice one way or another.

After the softball game, Golden spoke on the various things he and Williams did together on their off day.

“Me and Savion Williams went fishing yesterday… …we went to the flea market, and we went to some other place.”

It’s always good to see teammates choosing to spend time together off the field, particularly players who, while the media could potentially pit them against each other in the battle for playing time, will both be going through the ups and downs of their rookie years side-by-side.
