The long-awaited T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh finally kicked off at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, as the hosts secured a convincing 37-run win in the first T20I.
The match took place under clear skies and dry conditions. After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bat first. However, their top order faced early setbacks, with Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub falling cheaply in the opening. Zaman managed only one run, and Ayub departed for a golden duck.
Despite the early collapse, Salman Agha and Mohammad Haris played a crucial role in stabilizing the innings. The duo formed a steady 48-run partnership for the third wicket, with Salman contributing a solid 56 and Haris adding a valuable 31. Hasan Nawaz and Shadab Khan also chipped in with 44 and 48 runs to help Pakistan recover from the initial setback.
Pakistan’s innings concluded at 201 runs in 20 overs, with Faheem Ashraf (11) and Hasan Ali (1) remaining unbeaten at the crease. Bangladesh bowlers maintained discipline, giving away only four extras in the innings. Shoriful Islam picked up two wickets, while the rest of the bowlers claimed one wicket each.
During Bangladesh’s innings, the top and middle-order batters did their best to help their team achieve the set target. Litton Das was the top scorer with an impressive 48 runs from 30 balls. He fell just two runs short of a half-century. Key contributions also came from Jaker Ali, who added 36, and Tanzid Hasan, who contributed 31. Parvez Hossain batted in the second position but managed only four runs before Haris Rauf took a catch off Hasan Ali’s bowling in the second over.
Pakistan now leads the series 1-0, setting the tone for the remaining matches.
